Limescale deposits

Why does limescale build up?

Around 75% of all households in Germany have calcareous water.

1° dH (German hardness) corresponds to 1.78 g per 100 l of water vapour

With an average of 150 cbm of water in the household, about 50 kg of lime are introduced into the house installation per year.

Due to the heating of the water, about 15 kg of "lime" are stuck in the piping system due to the consumption per person. This creates a "limescale" deposit  an den wärmeübertragenden Elementen und es ergibt sich folgende Situation:

1 mm limescale leads to 10% more energy expenditure. (siehe Grafik)
